The commissioning that took place on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the hospital premises was in honour of the 25th Anniversary Celebration of His Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene.

The renovation included the painting of the entire ward, refurbishment of their washroom, installation of brand new hospital beds, mattresses, staff tables and chairs, hanging curtains, and fixing of broken tiles among others.

In her remarks, Lady Barbara Acheampong, president of the Asante Professional Club, USA Branch reaffirmed the club’s commitment to carrying out several social projects as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility to transform Asanteman’s health system.

Oheneba Boachie Adjei Woahene II, the board chairman of the Otumfuo Foundation, praised the club for their commendable initiative in renovating the children’s ward at Manhyia Hospital as a way to honour the Asantehene. He also requested that hospital staff members perform routine maintenance.

The Human Resource Manager of the hospital, Madam Esther Frimpong on behalf of the Management of the Manhyia Government Hospital, thanked the Asante Professionals Club for giving the children’s ward a major facelift that will improve their quality of care and extended a call for more support to the Manhyia Government Hospital.

Two years ago, the Asante Professionals Club USA donated some hospital equipment to the same Hospital on June 21, 2024. The items the APC-USA branch donated to the Manhyia Hospital are Autoclave and Electrocautery machines.

The items were donated to help reduce infections that happen during surgery, improves the quality of surgery and the quality of life in a lot of ways. As well as to help the hospital to reduce blood loss during surgery.

They also donated the “Otumfuo @70 school Backpacks” when His Majesty Otumfuo was celebrating his 70th Birthday in 2020.
